VIRTUAL EXHIBITION

Artist Talk with D.D. Gadjanski

The Last Five Years – D.D. Gadjanski

Virtual exhibition ends Sept 28, 2020

The Last Five Years is a compilation works created by artist D.D. Gadjanski during that period. The exhibition explores a variety of media and expressions.

“As we are looking at geometric abstraction, abstracted landscape resulted from travel images or imaginary florals, the palette of colours and the brush stroke is a constant. The inspiration may come from a shape, a word of a poet or glimpse of unusual colour. It is intended to play and explore desiring to see beyond.”

Artist’s Statement

Work shown in The Last Five Years is a compilation of number of series of works that I explored over that period of time.

Being interested in a variety of media and ways of expression the idea is to show these multiple explorations to the public in the Kitchener – Waterloo Area.

As we are looking at geometric abstraction, abstracted landscape resulted from travel images or imaginary florals the palette of colours and the brush stroke is a constant. The inspiration may come from a shape, a word of a poet or glimpse of unusual colour.

“Intent is to play and explore desiring to see beyond.”

The Loch Doon area was memorialized in celebrated Scottish poet, Robert Burns piece “Ye banks and braes O’ bonnie Doon”

Ye banks and braes o’ bonny Doon,
How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair?
How can ye chant, ye little birds,
And I sae weary fu’ o’ care?
Thou’lt break my heart, thou warbling bird,
That wantons thro’ the flowering thorn:
Thou minds me o’ departed joys,
Departed, never to return.

Aft hae I rov’d by bonnie Doon,
To see the rose and woodbine twine;
And ilka bird sang o’ its love,
And fondly sae did I o’ mine.
Wi’ lightsome heart I pu’d a rose,
Fu’ sweet upon its thorny tree;
And my fause lover stole my rose,
But, ah! he left the thorn wi’ me.
