Summertime Storytelling Clothesline Art Sale

Sunday, June 1st, 2025 | 12:00-4:00pm

To expand on the pairing of visual art and word-based mediums, the Homer Watson House & Gallery will be hosting a clothesline art sale to accompany to the Writer’s Market, featuring artwork themed primarily around the literary world. We are looking for art that makes use of text elements, story-based concepts, and/or graphic/comic styles.

Unframed works will be displayed on clotheslines through the trees and along the edge of the park.

We will consider all artwork that is original and unframed. All artists and creators are welcome to participate. Both emerging and seasoned artists can sell their artwork in a fun, easy and approachable way. Artwork is displayed on a clothesline only (must be light weight). Tables, tents, and display units are not allowed.  Lawn chairs, clothes pins and bins for extra unframed works are highly recommended. The Gallery does not take commission on any sales.

The Loch Doon area was memorialized in celebrated Scottish poet, Robert Burns piece “Ye banks and braes O’ bonnie Doon”

Ye banks and braes o’ bonny Doon,
How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair?
How can ye chant, ye little birds,
And I sae weary fu’ o’ care?
Thou’lt break my heart, thou warbling bird,
That wantons thro’ the flowering thorn:
Thou minds me o’ departed joys,
Departed, never to return.

Aft hae I rov’d by bonnie Doon,
To see the rose and woodbine twine;
And ilka bird sang o’ its love,
And fondly sae did I o’ mine.
Wi’ lightsome heart I pu’d a rose,
Fu’ sweet upon its thorny tree;
And my fause lover stole my rose,
But, ah! he left the thorn wi’ me.
