For Alzheimer’s awareness month, the Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington launched this visual storytelling exhibition on the theme “Age in Focus”, celebrates aging and, reflects on what aging looks like in our daily lives. It also hopes to challenge the stigma that often surrounds it. In keeping it open to the community’s interpretation of the theme; we collected imaginative and thoughtful portrayals of what age means to people. These selections are directly from members of our community, and they reflect the love and care we share for others as we age.

The Loch Doon area was memorialized in celebrated Scottish poet, Robert Burns piece “Ye banks and braes O’ bonnie Doon”

Ye banks and braes o’ bonny Doon,
How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair?
How can ye chant, ye little birds,
And I sae weary fu’ o’ care?
Thou’lt break my heart, thou warbling bird,
That wantons thro’ the flowering thorn:
Thou minds me o’ departed joys,

Aft hae I rov’d by bonnie Doon,

But, ah! he left the thorn wi’ me.
