Join us for an immersive and exciting camp experience! HWHG camps are designed to spark creativity whether you are a kid or a kid at heart. Explore your creative side with art instructor-led activities, your adventurous side with outdoor activities, and your curious side with in-gallery exploration. 

HWHG camps offer everyone the chance to discover their inner artist through a diverse range of artistic activities. Led by experienced art instructors, campers will have the opportunity to express themselves, connect with new friends, and explore their creativity in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Homer Watson House & Gallery camps are designed to challenge and develop the skill sets of little artists ages 4-11. Each day is a new artistic adventure and may include painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpting and more. There is something for everyone!  

The typical camp day will include 2 longer work periods where we make more detailed art projects. For example; an acrylic painting or a sculpture. In between the campers will also complete smaller craft projects, games and outdoor play to get some fresh air while staying safe on-site. 

Important Camp Info:

  • Camp Registration includes a Summer Art Camp T-shirt!
  • Please bring nut-free snacks, lunch, & a water bottle. HWHG does not provide food for campers.
  • Come dressed for mess! Please bring weather appropriate clothing, campers will be participating in outdoor activities rain or shine.
  • Drop off is 8:30 – 9:00 am (camp day starts at 9:00am).
  • Pick-up is 4:00 – 5:00 pm (camp day ends at 4:00 pm).
  • Campers will receive a camp information email and camper form to be filled out 1 week before their first day of camp.

Summer Camp Week 1: Line, Shape & Colour

This week campers will learn about all the incredible and fun ways to use Line, Shape, and Colour to make art!

During this week of camp, campers explore unexpected and lesser known artforms. Learn About fibre arts, mask making, folk art, puppets, murals, mosaics, and more!

This week campers will explore art inspired by lore, legends, and myths throughout the ages using a variety of mediums including painting, sculpting, and more!

This week campers will explore the connection between art, design, and everyday objects. We will create fantastic, functional artworks using a variety of 2D and 3D processes including printmaking, sculpting, and architectural modelling.

SUMMER CAMPS SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Applications now open! The scholarship fund covers 100% of summer camp fees for the selected applicants. Families who meet the eligibility criteria are welcome to apply.
Behavior Management:
We believe that every person has the right to feel safe, both physically and emotionally, at Camp. When behaviour issues arise and/or challenges present themselves, we resolve them on an individual basis. Camp staff are trained to work with understanding, care, and patience. Please inform us of any behavioural concerns that should be noted and shared with the instructor.
 
Behaviour, actions, and language should contribute to a positive & safe  environment at all times. The Gallery reserves the right to remove a child from a program permanently and without refund if the child’s behaviour is deemed in breach of the HWHG behaviour policy.
 
Please review the following with your child:
  • Campers will be respectful to both themselves and others at all times. This includes being respectful of individual differences, respect for the property owned by other campers & the Gallery.
  • Campers will stay within the boundaries of the set activities.
  • Campers are responsible for their actions & the consequences of their behaviour.
  • We do not tolerate violence, bullying, or inappropriate language/behaviour of any kind.
Health & Safety
Signing Your Child In and Out
  • Parents & Guardians are responsible for signing their child in & out of camp on a daily basis.
  • No children will be allowed to run into a waiting vehicle.
  • Please pick up your child on time
  • Sign Out: Caregivers are to sign out campers with the camp counsellors.
  • ID is required at pickup. Campers will only be permitted to leave with adults preauthorized for pickup.
  • Aftercare: Pickup for campers who have purchased aftercare is between 4-5pm. Please note, aftercare does not include instructed activities.
  • Late Pick Up: There is an extra charge for pickup after 4pm (after 5pm for those who have purchased aftercare). The fee is $10 for every additional 15 minutes.
Illness
If a camper becomes ill at camp, a parent or guardian will be notified immediately and must arrange for prompt pick up of a child. Please call/email if your child is not attending camp due to illness. Campers should not come to Camp with known communicable diseases or health issues (such as COVID-19, chicken pox, lice, viral infections, rashes, athlete’s foot, impetigo, etc.)
 
Summer Sun & Mosquitoes
All campers spend some time outdoors. Campers will be required to provide and apply their own sunscreen & bug spray to protect themselves.
 
Lunches
Parents are responsible for providing nut free snacks, lunches and drinks. HWH&G prefers that campers use environmentally friendly packaging such as reusable containers, to reduce waste. Food will not be provided. Please pack a reusable water bottle.
What to Wear & Bring
Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for daily art activities and weather conditions. Some paints do not wash out of clothes. Camp activities occur outside rain or shine (unless there is inclement weather), please pack weather appropriate clothes.
LOST & FOUND
HWH&G is not responsible for any lost or damaged belongings of campers while at camp.
Kindly label your child’s belongings.

Refunds 

There will be no refunds when cancelling 10 business days or less before the first class or the event.
  • Cancellations before that period will be subject to a 10% administration fee. We do not arrange refunds for missed classes or drop-outs, camp days, events or transfers. Official receipts are issued at the time of registration. If you need to cancel due to illness or unsatisfactory health screening you will receive a refund for missed classes. 
  • Refunds are approved on a case-by-case basis.  
  • Refund requests must be submitted 10 business days before the program’s start date or event date.  
  • HWHG reserves the right to deny a refund request or give a partial refund.
